The Sega Dreamcast is a home video game console released by Sega on November 27, 1998 in Japan, September 9, 1999 in North America, and October 14, 1999 in Europe. It was the successor to the Sega Saturn and the first in the sixth generation of video game consoles, preceding Sony's PlayStation 2, Nintendo's GameCube, and Microsoft's Xbox. The Dreamcast was Sega's final home console, marking the end of the company's eighteen years in the console market, after this, Sega became a third-party developer and publisher from then on.

  • The Dreamcast is the only Sega console where none of the Treasure-developed games developed for it (Bangai-O and Ikaruga) were actually published by Sega, and were instead published by Entertainment Software Publishing (ESP for short), in North America, the Bangai-O port was published by Conspiracy Entertainment and in Europe, said port was published by Swing! Entertainment Media AG.
