Faust (known as Georg Faust in the Japanese version) is a minor character and mini-boss from Silhouette Mirage. He is found and fought in the Machonom stage.
Appearance[]
Faust is a tall, slim man with brown skin. He wears a dark blue robe with a red collar and belt, as well as a black necklace. He also wears white shoes and gloves to match his hair, and over his face is a grey mask that opens at the mouth.
Personality[]
Faust prides himself on his shadow puppetry, even calling himself a master. Like Sara, he seems to be using his talents on an unnamed television show, as he says his final act should be a "ratings bonanza."
Story[]
Faust appears as the first boss of Media City's Broadcast Facility. After Sara drops Shyna into the basement, she meets Faust, who briefly introduces himself before they fight. Once defeated, Faust falls down and all his hair falls out barring one strand. The spotlight is cast on him one last time, projecting the shadow of a large bomb onto the wall. He laughs as he explodes, sending Shyna back to Sara's quarters.
Strategy[]
Faust is of the Silhouette attribute, so he must be attacked with Mirage damage to defeat him. Contrary to being a Silhouette, his fighting style is not very physical, as he will often try to distance himself from Shyna by sliding and jumping away from her. Upon entering the arena, the lights are turned off, coating most of the area in darkness and making it harder to see the platforms. This changes when Faust initiates one of his attacks.
Once he is far enough away from Shyna, Faust will move himself into one of four poses, before a spotlight shines on him and casts a shadow onto the wall behind him. Each of these forms causes him to attack differently:
- While using the tank form, Faust can shoot energy blasts at you and shuffle across the ground. He cannot aim directly below himself.
- While using the artillery cannon form, Faust can shoot energy blasts at you from any angle, but cannot move.
- While using the satellite dish form, Faust can shoot highly accurate energy beams at you from any angle, but cannot move.
- While using the dragon form, Faust has a variety of attacks. He can either breath fire, flap his wings and cause a windstorm, or stomp the ground and cause an earthquake which damages you if you aren't in the air. He can also jump around the arena.
You can intercept these forms by either damaging him enough or grabbing him. Alternatively, you can reflect any of his attacks (barring the dragon's earthquake) with a Silhouette reflector, causing them to drain both his strength and spirit if they hit him. Furthermore, if you drain his spirit enough, he will be unable to initiate these attacks at all, leaving him defenseless.
Trivia[]
- Faust is named Shadow Man in the North American credits.
- Shyna also refers to him as this when she defeats him in game.
