Grigg (known as Grigori Shemhazai in the Japanese version) is a minor character and mini-boss from Silhouette Mirage. He is found in the Shamain stage, and acts as the first boss of the game.

Appearance[]

Grigg is a pale, lizard-like bipedal creature. He has bulging eyes with red pupils, a blue mohawk, and a wide mouth that reveals a long blue tongue when opened. He wears a blue sleeveless open jacket, dark blue gloves and baggy pants, orange shoes, and a cross necklace. In some artwork, he is also depicted to have a set of small, sharp teeth.

Personality[]

Since he is a Silhouette, Grigg is determined to end the Messenger's mission, though he seems to also entertain the idea that doing so will grant him more respect, according to his dialogue. In the English translation, he talks with a heavy Australian accent.

Story[]

Shortly after Shyna enters the tunnel system of Shamain, she encounters Grigg. He explains that he is trying to break into the shelter and eliminate the Messenger of Destruction. While he does not realize his target is in fact Shyna, he still desires to defeat her so she does not retreat and warn anybody within the shelter, initiating his boss fight. Upon his defeat, Grigg flies into the background.

NA Manual Description[]

As the leader of the surveillance group of the Silhouette shelter, he is using machines to tunnel underground to the shelter where Shyna resides.

Strategy[]

Being the first boss in the game of many, Grigg is not too complicated. He is of the Silhouette attribute, so he must be attacked with Mirage damage to lower his strength, or you can match his Silhouette damage to drain his spirit, preventing him from using most of his attacks. He has a variety of close-range offenses to strike you with. If you're right in front of him, he might attempt to poke you with a sharp blade that comes out of his mouth. He can also breath fire, and fling his mohawk at you in a boomerang pattern, which deals rapid damage. There are also slopes at each end of the arena, which he may jump on and slide down; while sliding, he can hit you and knock you back.

Additionally, in the center of the arena is a hanging battering ram, as seen before. Grigg may jump and latch on to it, then spin it around the room rapidly. It can easily hit you unless you make your way to either end of the room, where it can't reach. You can also intercept this attack by hitting Grigg for enough damage, causing him to fall off. Eventually, he will also stop spinning by himself, then vomit before resuming his assault. Overall, this fight should be light work, especially if you purchased the level 6 Surosa Parasite from the hidden shop earlier in the stage.

Trivia[]

  • Grigg's name refers to Watchers, a type of biblical angel also known as grigori. His Japanese name also references Samyaza, also known as Shamhazai, who was the leader of the fallen Watchers. This alludes to how Grigg leads a platoon of Specters to break into the shelter where the Messenger resides.
