Not to be confused with Serah, another character from the same game.

Sara (known as Sarah in the Japanese version) is a minor character and mini-boss from Silhouette Mirage. She is one of the many bosses encountered in the Machonom stage.

Appearance[]

Sara initially appears as a wooden cutout of a bunny girl, but is actually a much smaller humanoid female.

The bunny girl has pale skin, blonde curly hair, blue eyes and a slim figure. She wears white bunny ears on a blue headband with a matching blue leotard and heels. She has a white collar, cuffs and bunny tail and wears tan tights. Behind her is a podium that is covered by a white cloth and reads "BIG CHANCE" in red, with a yellow flash behind it.

Sara's true form is a short girl with a blue bob and a monotone expression. She wears a round red outfit with a gold pattern on the front, and a golden clamp over her head. She has white gloves and dark blue shoes. At the back of her outfit is a gold shape that varies in design depending on artwork or sprite. She also wields a long white rod with the wooden cutout's head mounted at the top.

Personality[]

Sara takes her role as a game show hostess very seriously, constantly addressing the audience and referring to Shyna as a contestant. She prides herself in never losing, despite what her manual description implies; however, even she knows when to surrender once Shyna does defeat her.

Story[]

Once Shyna reaches her in the Broadcast Facility of Media City, Sara introduces herself as the hostess of the game show "You Die, You Lose," before sending the Messenger down a trap door to Faust's arena. Upon his defeat, Shyna returns to Sara's quarters, where the hostess challenges her contestant to another battle. At the end of their fight, Sara admits defeat and even gives Shyna a free spin at the slot machine. After this, Sara smacks her victorious contestant out of the room with her staff, and toward Delia's quarters.

NA Manual Description[]

Sara used to be very popular on Media City TV, until her addiction to gambling ruined her life. However, she's now said to be looking forward to making some extra cash trying to get rid of Shyna.

Strategy[]

Sara is of the Mirage attribute, so she must be attacked with Silhouette damage. During the first "phase" of the battle, she only slides across the ground attempting to run into Shyna, which will knock her back. After being dealt enough damage, her cardboard cutout disappears, and the real battle begins.

After losing her disguise, Sara has many tricky attacks. She often tries to distance herself from Shyna by running away, though she will occasionally stop and try to hit her with her staff. If she is far enough away, Sara may either try to drop balls on the ground that can trip Shyna, or shoot a bomb that explodes on contact. Both of these attacks can be reflected by a Mirage reflector.

Another attack Sara may use is to summon four cards, face down. They will reveal their faces for a moment, three having skulls and one having an angel, before flipping back and shuffling around. Once they finish shuffling, they will hover over the arena and reveal themselves once more, where all skull cards will shoot a stream of lightning directly below them. To dodge this attack, you must pay attention to which card is the angel and hide underneath it.

What is by far Sara's most complex attack involves the giant slot machine in the background. Periodically, Sara will hover to the lever which activates the machine and pull it, causing the slots to spin. The machine shows three pictures on each roll, and each roll is stopped by either shooting, jumping or using your reflector. Sara will wait for you to stop all three, and while they spin she cannot be harmed. There is also a number below the slots signifying a multiplier: it starts at 1 and can go up to 8. It increases if you shoot Sara while she opens the clamp on her head, which will absorb your attacks without damaging her. This multiplier can influence the result of the slot machine spin, and resets to 1 after each spin.

Once all three rolls stop spinning, any horizontal or diagonal matching row of three will cause an event before the fight continues:

  • If three Polly Peepers or Specters are in a row, an amount of them are dropped into the arena based on the multiplier.
  • If three circles are in a row, an amount of mana pickups are dropped into the arena based on the multiplier.
  • If three triangles are in a row, an amount of health pickups are dropped into the arena based on the multiplier.
  • If three coins are in a row, an amount of credits are dropped into the arena based on the multiplier.
  • If three dark smiling faces are in a row, lightning will strike Shyna's position, damaging her.
  • If three "LUCKY" symbols are in a row, lightning will strike Sara's position, damaging her.

What you might note during the fight is that Sara holds a hefty 500 credits, so you may want to take some time grabbing and bashing her to collect them for yourself.

Trivia[]

  • Given the rest of the biblical allegories throughout the game, it is possible Sara was named after the biblical Sarah, who was Abraham's wife.
    • Her Japanese name is more explicit in this regard.
  • Sara's true form is one of the only bosses not to receive concept artwork.
